The Spurs would love nothing more than to return the favor by handing the Celtics a home loss. But the only thing they’ll find on Wednesday is a buzz saw awaiting their arrival at the TD Garden from a motivated Celtics team looking to bounce back from an ugly loss to the Wizards. The Celtics are a top-10 offensive team in the league, and they were held to 94 points by the worst scoring defense.
Someone has to pay for that performance, and San Antonio has the misfortune of being next on the itinerary.
DeRozan and Aldridge are certainly capable of exploding enough to keep up with the Celtics on offense. The main problem, however, lies on the defensive end of the floor with opposing teams averaging a 47.5 field goal shooting percentage against the Spurs. The Wizards might be a worse defensive team, but it hasn’t been by much. San Antonio has allowed 115.9 points per game on the road this season.
A better performance from Tatum and Hayward will help get the Celtics back on track offensively. The Spurs are too one-dimensional in this matchup against one of the best two-teams in basketball. I’m rolling with the Celtics on Wednesday.
